A proud royal heritage

Historic roots brought to life with warm British hospitality & theatrical dining experiences.

The English Grill

With a British Chef and Maître d’Hôtel, The English Grill is quintessentially authentic English, using some of the finest produce from the British Isles. The restaurant showcases traditional service by friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the dining experience is accompanied by an extensive wine list, including a fine selection from Bouchard Finlayson, our vineyard in South Africa. We also have a Champagne trolley, showcasing a selection to choose from.

The menu offers signatures classics, including salads, steaks, desserts and dishes from our Founder and President, Mrs Beatrice Tollman, and all meats are grilled to perfection in our charcoal fired Josper Grill. The glass wall overlooking the pass allows guests to watch some of the action taking place in the kitchen.

The English Grill is proud to hold two AA Rosettes.

Hawk walks

Our one-hour private Hawk Walks give you the incredible opportunity to fly your very own Harris Hawks under the guidance of your instructor. After you have been introduced to your hawks you’ll set off into the magnificent woodlands to fly your hawks, as they follow you from tree to tree through the woods before swooping down to land on your gloved fist. Your instructor will explain about the hawks’ exceptional eyesight, their speed and agility and how they were trained by the Falconry School themselves.

The minimum age to participate in a Hawk Walk is 7 years old. Children younger than 7 are welcome to spectate during a Hawk Walk however they would not be able to participate. Junior guests must be a minimum age of 13 years of age to experience an extended Hawk Walk. We would ask families to refrain from using strollers during their Hawk Walk as the birds are intimated by their presence. Hawk Walks cater for all ages and families taking into account the aforementioned requirements.
