The Connaught Room

The Connaught Room is flanked with large windows commanding spectacular views of the castle’s manicured gardens and the magnificent Lough Corrib. The room captivates guests with its inspiring Donegal Crystal chandelier, panelled oak walls and a hand-carved fireplace.

The Connaught Room serves Afternoon Tea, and its menu offers our guests a delightful selection of speciality teas, delicate finger sandwiches with traditional fillings, warm scones and handmade pastries. The Connaught Room is also the venue for our regular wine dinners. Afternoon Tea service is available both to residents staying at Ashford Castle and visitors.

Opening hours

Afternoon Tea is served 1.30pm, 2pm, 3.30pm and 4pm from Monday to Sunday.

The ritual of Afternoon Tea extends back to 1868 at Ashford Castle, when Lord and Lady Ardilaun would take Afternoon Tea to discuss the events of the morning and the plans for that evening.
