What is your role at Ashford Castle?
My role at Ashford Castle Boutique began in May 1990 as a Sales Assistant and I am now proudly a Manager.
What was your first experience of Ashford Castle?
My first experience of Ashford Castle was when a family member, who was working on maintenance, took us on a tour around the grounds, and I was gobsmacked at such a beautiful setting... that was back in 1969.
What were your thoughts when you saw the Castle for the first time after the restoration?
Seeing the Castle after restoration was something of a 'rebirth' as the intensity of the work from the smallest details was perfection at its best. The Castle still held its own character and charm.
Tell me something about Ashford that people might not know?
Taking a walk on the grounds of Ashford feels like a 'trip back in time' with the wonderful surroundings, it's special whatever the season.
What makes Ashford so special?
As I'm now in my 'senior years' a typical day at Ashford Castle would be working from 10am and finishing at 2.30pm and, if circumstances and weather obliged, perhaps a few holes of golf wouldn't be out of the question.
Another vice I indulge in would be a game of Badminton, which can be very therapeutic and relaxing.
What does a typical day at Ashford look like for you?
As I am now in my senior years, my day tends to start at around 10pm and finishes at 2.30pm in the afternoon.
What is your favourite part of your role?
Meeting people from all corners of the world is a special treat, and discovering how similar we all are is truly amazing.
What do you do to relax when you are not working?
I enjoy playing golf and badminton; I find badminton very therapeutic and relaxing.
What three words would you use to describe Ashford?
Unforgettable, magical, splendour!
What is your proudest achievement of your time at Ashford Castle?
My proudest achievement at The Boutique would probably be, the sale of Nigel O'Reilly's Diamonds!
