Wine tasting

Set beneath the castle, Ashford Castle’s wine cellars are housed within 16th-century secret tunnels, once used as a private servants’ entrance and coal tunnel during the Guinness era. Today, these atmospheric stone passageways provide a distinctive and intimate setting for private wine tastings.

Guests can enjoy a private wine tasting, sampling a fine selection of vintages and a choice of both new and old world wines. Utilising a Coravin system, it is possible to explore some of the world’s most exclusive wines without removing the cork, preserving their freshness for weeks. The extensive wine list has been carefully curated by our knowledgeable Head Sommelier. Suitable for groups of up to six people, wine tastings can be booked daily, subject to availability.

For those wishing to extend the experience, the cellars may also be reserved for an intimate wine dinner. Thoughtfully paired menus and attentive service combine with the historic surroundings to create a memorable private dining experience, ideal for special occasions.

Time: Wine tastings are available daily from 12.00 to 6.00pm
