A perfect romantic itinerary

Curate your dream

If your dream honeymoon involves both adventure and intrigue, the Ashford Estate and its surrounding area is the perfect playground. The serene waters of the neighbouring River Cong and Lough Corrib lend themselves to boat trips, lake cruising, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing. The verdant woodlands form the backdrop for walking, hiking, horse riding, tree climbing, zip-lining, and even falconry. Honeymooners looking to inject some competition into their stay are more than welcome to make use of our tennis, golf, clay shooting, and archery facilities.

We also provide plenty of opportunities for those seeking authentic cultural immersion: Irish food, indigenous craft, music and story, and the real Connemara are the four themes these experiences fall under. After a busy day exploring all the Ashford Estate has to offer, a cosy night in the Castle can be enjoyed in our private cinema.

Multitude of dining options

Award-winning castle dining

The Castle is fortunate to house a multitude of dining and drink options, each with their own unique characteristics. Our George V Dining Room is a regal centrepiece in which fine dining takes place amidst panelled walls and Waterford Crystal chandeliers. The Dungeon, far more inviting than its name suggests, with its family crest banners hanging from a curved stone ceiling, has a truly medieval feel that makes for a memorable dining experience. Our Drawing Room, with its views of the lawns and Lough Corrib, lends more than a touch of romance to your new beginning. For more adventurous dining, stroll over our bridge and enjoy the delicious cuisine available at Cullen’s at the Cottage. For wine lovers and aficionados looking to toast their union in style, our Castle Wine Cellars, found in the secret passageways of the Castle, offer private wine tastings and wine dinners.
