What is your role at Ashford Castle?
I work as Front of House Assistant – making sure the that the front of house, public areas, and all the guest touch points are clean and maintained to a five-star standard

What was your background before you worked at Ashford Castle?
Before I started in Ashford Castle, I worked in a factory.

What was your first experience of Ashford Castle?
I officially started to work at the Castle in February 1996.

What were your thoughts when you saw the Castle for the first time after the restoration?
Amazing. It was wonderful to see it restored so beautifully. 

Tell us something about Ashford that people might not know?
The staff used to sleep in the Castle, downstairs where the administration offices are located today.

What makes Ashford so special?
The view: overlooking the majestic Lough Corrib and onto the rolling hills of Connemara.

What does a typical day at Ashford look like for you?
Completing my list of cleaning duties and meeting and greeting guests as I go.

What is your favourite part of your role?
Meeting and talking to the guests. 

What do you do to relax when you are not working?
I love to go for walks - I live in the countryside so I am blessed with open space. I also like to watch TV.

What three words would you use to describe Ashford?
Unique, beautiful, historical. 

What is your proudest achievement of your time at Ashford Castle?
Recognition of my 25 years of service last year.
