What is your role at Ashford Castle?
I am a Back of House Attendant.
What was your background before you worked at Ashford Castle?
I worked in retail in a large department store - (Roches Stores in Galway). Later I married and had two boys
What was your first experience at Ashford Castle?
My first experience at Ashford Castle was how big the Castle was, staff were and continue to be very helpful and I was made to feel very welcome at all times.
What were your thoughts when you saw the Castle for the first time after the restoration?
Absolutely amazing.
What takes Ashford so special?
Ashford is special because of the people who work here.
What does a typical day at Ashford look like for you?
I start work at 6am – and am responsible for the cleaning of back of house areas, ladies and gent’s toilets, canteen, and corridors - being very mindful of increased sanitation protocols. I usually finish around 2pm.
What is your favourite part of your role?
Coming into work early in the morning because it is the best time of the day, as I am an early morning person, and meeting and chatting to our team!
What do you do to relax when you are not working?
I like oil painting, walking, cycling and a glass of wine in the evening.
What three words would you use to describe Ashford Castle?
Amazing, wonderful, and outstanding.
What is the proudest achievement of your time at Ashford Castle?
When I received the 'Employee of the Month' award. It was amazing!
