What was your background before you worked at Ashford Castle?

I worked with timber before I started working at Ashford.

What was your first experience of Ashford Castle?

My First experience of Ashford was when I started working here in 1998.

What were your thoughts when you saw the Castle for the first time after the restoration?

I thought it looked truly amazing.

Tell me something about Ashford that people might not know.

When I first started working here at Ashford, some of the staff members used to actually stay in the castle after work.

What makes Ashford so special?

The grounds of Ashford are just amazing and the view across Lough Corrib is incredible.

What does a typical day at Ashford look like for you?

I start my shift at 8am and get stuck into a day of washing pots and other kitchen equipment, ensuring that everything is kept ready and prepared for the Chefs.

What is your favourite part of your role?

Having a catch up with my colleagues during my break.

What do you do to relax when you are not working?

Maintaining my farm and completing different jobs on the grounds.

What three words would you use to describe Ashford?

Unique, beautiful, and memorable.

What is your proudest achievement of your time at Ashford Castle? 

My proudest achievement is having now worked here for 24 years.
