What is your full name?

Magdalena Kowalik

What is your role at Ashford Castle?

I have been part of the wonderful Reservations team for the last 7 years  I first started working in the Housekeeping department for a year, and then I worked in Front Office for 10 years.

What was your background before you worked at Ashford Castle?

I worked in a clothing shop in Poland, which is my home country!

What was your first experience of Ashford Castle?

Oh gosh – I came to visit the gardens and I fell in love right away, I could imagine myself working at the Castle and I really wanted to be at the Accommodation Department.

What were your thoughts when you saw the Castle for the first time after the restoration?

I was excited and felt privileged to work in such a magnificent place that is even more beautiful after the renovations.

Tell me something about Ashford that people might not know.

Originally our Boutique was located where our Spa is now. 

What makes Ashford so special?

History, views, feel of calmness and respect to nature.

What does a typical day at Ashford Castle look like for you?

It is a Dolly Parton job (mostly) 9 to 5, it is all speaking and communicating with our future guest over the phone and emails, making their reservations and creating itineraries so our guests have the most unforgettable stay.

What is your favourite part of your role?

My daughter thinks that it is amazing that her mum spends her day at the Castle. 

What do you do to relax when you are not working?

Spending time with my family.

What three words would you use to describe Ashford?

Stunning, magical and mysterious!

What is your proudest achievement of your time at Ashford Castle?

Guests who say that they remember me from their previous stay or experience!
